Organizing a Protest
-
Figure out Your Issues, Messages and Slogans
-
Write up slogans which work for the sound byte driven media world. You got 15 seconds on TV so put your message out in 10 seconds .
-
What kind of protest? Quiet and determined or loud and obnoxious.
-
Establish an information campaign for the public with letters to editors, local groups. Use brochures and even meetings through existing groups.  These existing groups have lists and can get the word out fast.  Â
-
Publicize the meetings in local websites and through newspapers and other outlets.
-
Use a highly visible location - shopping mall, town plaza, busy interesection with a parking lot, etc. Â Try and related the location to your protest, e.g., City Hall or near the IRS.
-
Get Headliners - speakers that will attract crowds and bring more publicity. Make sure that they're good public speakers.
