Create Bumper Stickers.

These ubiquitious stickers can be seen by hundreds of people in a day.  You may or may not want to make them removable.  The intolerant Left has been known to 'key' people's cars for bumper stickers as a shining example of their 'Diversity'.    You can put them in your windshield and then take them down when you park.  A pain in the butt, but you still get the message across.

Public Protests are - pardon the pun - brewing across the country against tax increases which will slam the middle class.  The government is spending billions and, by the Congressional Budget Office assessment, trillions in taxes and your children's taxes on Health, Energy and Education in a Socialist power grab for money.    The oiginal Boston Tea Party has now been renewed.  Even TEA has become a great acronym for words beyond just an herbal leaf.

In the "Citizen Soldier Handbook: 101 Ways For Every American To Fight Terrorism",  #65 is to Instigate a Chain Gesture.  Presently, one is underway as I write this column.   The original Boston Tea Party was a gesture defiant to the British crown for unjust taxes on tea.   Disguised as Indians (and probably poor disguises at that), the Sons of Liberty climbed aboard the Darmouth and dumped tea overboard.

CNBC's Rick Santelli leads the trader mortgage revolt. Would you want to join his "Chicago Tea Party?" .    This reporter posed questions to the Obama Socialist bailout.

Organizing a Protest

  1. Figure out Your Issues, Messages and Slogans

  2. Write up slogans which work for the sound byte driven media world.  You got 15 seconds on TV so put your message out in 10 seconds .

  3. What kind of protest?  Quiet and determined or loud and obnoxious.

  4. Establish an information campaign for the public with letters to editors, local groups.  Use brochures and even meetings through existing groups.   These existing groups have lists and can get the word out fast.   
  5. Publicize the meetings in local websites and through newspapers and other outlets.

  6. Use a highly visible location - shopping mall, town plaza, busy interesection with a parking lot, etc.   Try and related the location to your protest, e.g., City Hall or near the IRS.

  7. Get Headliners - speakers that will attract crowds and bring more publicity.  Make sure that they're good public speakers.

Tactic: Plan a Protest With Google Earth PDF Print E-mail

A group of people protesting expansion at London's Heathrow used Google Earth to plan their protest.  In this article, one of the leaders of the protest said that they planned with Google Earth.   This website

Leo Murray, a protester, said that Google Earth “showed us all the walkways, steps and other details we needed to make our way across the roof from the door to the far side where the public could see us."

Your protest involves safe crowd control and planning.   Getting an accurate overhead can help - but don't forget to actually walk the ground of the protest.  Otherwise, it's like the problem that the Allies had in the Invasion of Normandy.  They landed in Normandy, using topographic maps which are flat and readable.  What the maps didn't read were the Norman bocage country, which had virtually impenetrable hedges to stop Allied armor, and that allowed for the Germans to use their considerable expertise in counterattacks and ambush.

Use Google Earth and walk the ground.
