Strategies and Tactics

An idea is great but an idea without a strategy and a tactic is less useful than the napkin it is written on.    You may come up with many ideas but implementing them with effective Strategies and Tactics is the key to winning.

Tactic: Create False Accusations of Racism PDF Print E-mail

On March 20th, something truly extraordinary happened. On the eve of the health care vote, a group of black Democrat Congressmen (eschewing the private tunnels they usually use to cross from their offices to the Capitol) chose to walk en masse through a crowd of protesters, confident that the knuckledragging Tea Party goons they and their media pals have reviled for a year now would respond with racial epithets.

And then, when the crowd didn't, the black Congressmen made it up anyway. Representative Andre Carson (Democrat, Indiana) insisted he heard the N-word 15 times. He's either suffering from the same condition as that Guam-flipper from Georgia, or he's a liar. At a scene packed not only with crews from the Dem poodle media but with a gazillion cellphone cameras, not one single N-word has been caught on audio. (By contrast, see my post yesterday for how easy it is to get it on tape when real epithets are flying.)

Action: Guidelines for Tea Party Protests PDF Print E-mail

Action:  Plan your protest and follow a few Guidelines for a successful Event.

The CNBC Rick Santelli call for a new Chicago Tea Party. This came from a friend of mine in an email.   Great advice about a criticism of a Tea Party that you could learn from.

SOME ADVICE ON FUTURE “TEA PARTY” PROTESTS, from a media producer who attended the Overland Park affair:

I attended the invigorating protest outside Congressman Dennis Moore’s Overland Park, Kansas office yesterday.

I hoped 10-15 souls might show up. I was thrilled to see hundreds. Here are some suggestions. I don’t really want my name used. Sadly, it could really hurt my business, which is already hurting.

As a professional media producer, here are my concerns:

1. Coherent message - Make sure the signs are coherent for the TV media.  That's your background.  In some protests, the signs were all over the place. There were lots of agendas. That’s fine. The color and signage look good on TV.

Action: Create Monitor Websites e.g., Rathergate Watches Media PDF Print E-mail

ACTION: Monitor news outlets  - whether newspapers, TV, radio and more - to keep them ethical and responsible Journalists.

God knows we need help on this one.    When reporters for ABC and Washington Post acknowledge that their companies and most reporters gave Barack Obama a pass in the 2008 election, you have a problem.   I personally think that you can have a greater effect on your local paper than with national papers and media.   That's because

YOU CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE HERE.

1.   Make sure that you're a news Junkie in either national or local politics

2.   Read your local or city paper

3.  Identify certain areas - Current Events, Frontpage, local politics, business - that keenly interests you.

4.  Form a group of like minded individuals to scrutinize a story.  Maybe you can do one or two a week.

5.  NAME the journalists, refer to the standards of the Society of Professionals Journalists - and point out that Journalists particular violations of these ethics.

6. Create a website to post criticism of the local journalist and their poorly written work.   By naming them, you are making them more accountable to the public.

7.  Journalists rely upon their written work for future jobs.  In essence, by criticizing their present work, you are raining on their future resume - if they deserve it.

8.  Hold yourself and your crew to the highest journalistic standards.  Don't demean, ridicule, etc.,  Let the standards speak for themselves.

Keeping an eye on the media well after the Dan Rather scandal (called Rathergate), you can still read about media bias coverage at Rathergate.com. The most recent scandals is the rejection of the New York Times of the John McCain essay.  McCain is responding to the previous Obama essay in the New York Times.    The NYT Editor Shipley's excuses are lame and self-serving...but that's the New York Times.
